WE are relieved champion Queensland motorcyclist Matthew Kuhne has received his
much-needed neck surgery, but we remain appalled the young man was forced to
wait nine gruelling days because of staff shortages at Princess Alexandra
Hospital.
We are even more aghast at the suggestion Mr Kuhne was treated only after the
intervention of Premier Peter Beattie's office. If true, this is yet another
indictment of Queensland Health. Does this mean patients must catch the
attention of both the media and the Premier before being treated in Queensland
hospitals? We sincerely hope not. |
